Carbon Steel Hex Socket Machine Screws Black Oxide Finish M2 M3 M4 M5 M6 For Machinery Frame Construction

Metric machine screws with fully threaded design for pre tapped holes or nuts. Stainless steel brass and carbon steel options. Pan head flat head and hex socket head styles. Phillips slotted and hex drive available. Sizes M2 to M6. Class 4.8 and Class 6.8 strength. Ideal for electronics appliances instruments and general machinery assembly.

Machine screws are precision fasteners with uniform threads running the full length of the shank. Unlike self tapping screws that create their own threads, machine screws are designed for use with pre tapped holes or mating nuts. This allows for consistent clamping force and easy disassembly when needed.

    Full Thread Design

The thread on a machine screw extends from just under the head all the way to the tip. This full thread design allows the screw to engage with nuts or tapped holes at any point along its length, making it suitable for various material thicknesses and assembly configurations.

    Head Style Options

Pan head machine screws feature a low profile domed head with a flat bearing surface underneath. This style provides good clamping force and is commonly used in electronics and appliance assembly.

Flat head machine screws have an 82 degree countersunk cone shape. When installed properly the head sits flush with or slightly below the material surface, creating a smooth finish without protruding parts.

Hex socket head machine screws, also known as socket cap screws, feature a cylindrical head with a hexagonal recess. This design allows for high torque tightening using an Allen key or hex driver, making them ideal for precision machinery applications.

Fillister head screws have a higher head profile than pan heads, providing deeper drive engagement. Cheese head screws offer a cylindrical shape similar to pan head but with straight vertical sides.

    Drive Types

Phillips drive features a cross shaped recess that provides good centering and reduces cam out. It is compatible with common screwdrivers found in most shops and assembly lines.

Slotted drive is the traditional straight line design. While simple and widely available, it requires careful alignment during installation.

Hex socket drive offers excellent torque transmission without cam out. The hexagonal recess provides six driving points for even force distribution, ideal for high torque applications.

    Material Selection

Stainless steel machine screws provide excellent corrosion resistance for outdoor and marine environments. Grade 304 offers good all around performance while grade 316 provides enhanced resistance to salt water and chemicals.

Brass machine screws are corrosion resistant, non magnetic, and have an attractive gold like appearance. They are commonly used for electrical components, switch plates, and decorative applications.

Carbon steel machine screws offer high strength at a cost effective price point. Various surface finishes are available including zinc plating for mild corrosion resistance and black oxide for reduced glare.

    Size Specifications

Standard metric sizes include M2, M3, M4, M5, and M6 with coarse thread pitch. Length options range from 4mm to 40mm in standard increments. Custom lengths and non standard sizes can be manufactured for OEM orders. Inch sizes are also available upon request.

    Strength Grades

Class 4.8 machine screws are suitable for general purpose fastening applications where moderate clamping force is required. Class 6.8 offers higher tensile strength for applications with greater load demands or vibration exposure.

    Common Applications

Machine screws are widely used for electronics housing assembly, home appliance manufacturing, industrial equipment maintenance, automotive component fastening, precision instrument construction, switch and outlet mounting, computer hardware assembly, medical device manufacturing, and general mechanical assembly where pre tapped holes or nut plates are present.
