Stainless Steel 304 Phillips flat Head Machine Screws Metric M3 M4 M5 Class 4.8 For PCB Electronics Enclosure
What Are Machine Screws
Machine screws are precision fasteners with threads that run the entire length of the shank. They are designed to be used with pre tapped holes or nuts. Unlike wood screws or self tapping screws, machine screws do not cut their own thread. They require a tapped hole or a nut to create a secure joint. This design provides consistent clamping force and allows for easy disassembly when needed -1-2.
Fully Threaded Design
The thread on a machine screw is uniform from just under the head all the way to the tip. This full thread design allows the screw to engage with nuts or tapped holes at any point along its length. This makes machine screws versatile for different material thicknesses and assembly configurations -1-6.
Head Styles
Phillips pan head machine screws have a flat top with rounded sides that protrude above the surface. They provide a wide bearing surface for clamping and work with standard cross tip screwdrivers -2-4-9.
Flat head machine screws feature an 82 degree countersunk cone shape. When installed properly the head sits flush with or slightly below the material surface creating a smooth finish without protruding parts -3.
Fillister head screws have a higher head profile than pan heads providing deeper drive engagement for applications where a smaller head diameter is needed -8.
Hex head machine screws work with wrenches or sockets and are good for higher torque applications where a screwdriver might not provide enough tightening force -5.
Drive Types
Phillips drive features a cross shaped recess that provides good centering and reduces cam out. It is compatible with common screwdrivers found in most workshops -9.
Slotted drive is the traditional straight line design. While simple and widely available it requires careful alignment during installation -3.
Hex socket drive offers excellent torque transmission without cam out. The hexagonal recess provides six driving points for even force distribution ideal for high torque applications -5.
Materials
Stainless steel 304 machine screws offer good corrosion resistance for general industrial use and outdoor applications. Grade 316 provides enhanced resistance to chlorides and salt water making it suitable for marine environments -2-4.
Steel machine screws with zinc plating provide good strength at a cost effective price point. Zinc coating offers mild corrosion protection for indoor and general purpose use -6.
Brass machine screws are corrosion resistant and non magnetic with an attractive gold like finish. They are commonly used for electrical components switch plates and decorative applications -7.
Strength Grades
Class 4.8 machine screws are suitable for general purpose fastening where moderate strength is required. Class 6.8 offers higher tensile strength for applications with greater load demands. Class 8.8 and Class 12.9 are available for high strength applications -6.
Size Range
Metric sizes from M2 to M12 are available with standard coarse thread pitch. Inch sizes include 2-56 4-40 6-32 8-32 10-24 10-32 and 1/4-20. Standard lengths from 3mm to 100mm. Custom sizes available for OEM orders -5-6-7.
Applications
Machine screws are widely used for electronics housing assembly, PCB mounting, home appliances, industrial equipment, automotive components, precision instruments, switch and socket mounting, computer hardware, medical devices, and general mechanical assembly where pre tapped holes or nut plates are present -2-4-9.

Quality Assurance
Every batch undergoes thread gauging and dimensional inspection. Quality control includes checking thread fit head dimensions and overall length. Custom manufacturing available for special head styles and materials. Bulk pricing for wholesale orders and direct shipping worldwide.
