Shoulder screws (also known as shoulder bolts or stripper bolts) are precision fasteners consisting of three distinct sections: a head, a smooth precision‑ground shoulder, and a threaded end. The shoulder serves as a rotating shaft or a precise spacer, while the thread provides secure mounting.
The shoulder is ground to a tight diameter tolerance (h6 or h7) and a fine surface finish (Ra 0.8 or better). This allows bearings, bushings, gears, and pulleys to rotate freely. The threaded end screws into a tapped hole or nut, and the head controls the insertion depth.
